Dr S. Srikanta Sastri's personal type-writer

Dr. S. Srikanta Sastri's Personal Remington Typewriter

Dr. S. Srikanta Sastri's personal typewriter upon which he used to type letters, correspondences, monographs and sometimes even parts of his manuscripts for his communications with publishers. It was a Remington brand typewriter possibly from the 1940s or early 1950s. Definitely a collector's item today. Technical specifications included a dual tone red/black printing tape reeled forth from a spool on either side upon which the print heads of the typeset would strike onto the paper.

Brass memento presented to Dr S.Srikanta Sastri during the diamond jubillee celebrations of The Mythic Society

Mythic Society Diamond Jubilee Memento.jpg

This brass memento was presented to Dr S. Srikanta Sastri during the diamond jubillee celebrations of The Mythic Society, Bangalore in the year 1973. It depicts the young boy (Hoysala) who is fighting with a ferocious Lion, ultimately killing it. This act of heroism earns the boy his guru's blessings, with which he goes on to establish an empire which would later come to be known after him-The Hoysala Dynasty. In fact, Dr S. Srikanta Sastri has written on the Temple Architecture of the Hoysala Period in his landmark Monograph "Hoysala Vastushilpa".
